It’s that time again when I meet up with friends over @ Jennifers  for Share 4 Somethings. Each month we share what we Loved and/or disliked, accomplished, some things we’ve improved upon and/or that need improvement, and noticed.

Loved

I don’t know about loved, but I’d have to say your friend here who struggles with SAD from fall time change to spring time change, and despite my usual reluctance to leave the house, I decided to venture out on New Year’s Eve and had a wonderful time with friends at their house. We enjoyed watching the Times Square ball drop on TV and enjoyed a traditional meal of pork, sauerkraut, and dumplings together.

I Looovveee!! Fuzzy Socks, my cozy recliner blanket and soft PJ’s. Now, I’m not much of a hot tea person, but I do love to snuggle up with a hot cup of Lady Grey Tea with milk & honey when it’s really cold out. Fun Fact— You bet I’m one of “those” people who sleeps with the fan on me ALL year.

Read(ing)

Okay, so I’ve got two books in the works I’m reading at present.

A Place To Land— By: Kate Motaung

And

Everybody Always— By: Bob Goff. So far Bob has got me laughing and tearing up.

Disliked

I’d have to say that I strongly disliked the high winds and bitter cold that most of the nation faced. The winds were really scary there for a while and the power went out a few times, but not for long. Note to self: Buy wax candles, flameless candles, and maybe a battery operated lamp too.

Improved Upon

I’m so excited to tell you I picked up my new glasses yesterday. I get excited every year when I get new glasses— It’s the little things. LOL!

Ate

Went out to dinner with my friend at Tres’ Amigos Mexican Grill. I had Enchiladas Supreme and rice and beans. Secret… I love refried beans (shhh).

And

I had Sunday dinner at my friend’s house last Sunday. Her husband made ribs and baked potatoes. I’m not fond of ribs, but these were exceptional.

Noticed

The day after the  high winds, I noticed all the destruction while I was driving. Trees down, yard and patio furniture strewn about yards, a tree fell into a house and the abundance of debris on the roads and more. It was startling and anxiety-provoking to me to say the least.

  1. I just bought myself another 3 pack of fuzzy socks; they are a favorite on these cold winter nights. I do find that having plans (though I am often reluctant to leave the warm house!) boosts my mood tremendously so I try to plan something fun at least a few times a month.

    1. You’re right, when I do have plans and get out it sure is a mood booster

  2. A very nice read to learn more about you!

  3. I’m so glad you enjoyed your New Years’ Eve out! I know so many people who are affected by SAD; this time of year isn’t for the faint of heart. I loved the book Everybody Always by Bob Goff! He’s one of my favorite authors, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting him. He’s every bit the same in person as he is in his books! Thank you so much for linking up with me today! I hope you enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thanks so much Jen. I’m going to look into his other books too.

  4. I often don’t want to go out even to events I looked forward to, but once I get there, I’m glad I did. What wonderful food experiences you had this month! I am not a fan of winter, especially icy roads. I love throw blankets and sweaters.

    1. I’m not a fan of winter either. It wrecks havoc on my fibromyalgia. I do love watching it snow especially if I don’t need to go out.

  5. Sounds like you’ve had a fun month, Paula. I would sleep with the fan all year too if not for my husband not wanting to be cold in the winter. (I am NEVER cold at night. Not even when visiting my mother-in-law for Christmas in North Dakota, where I still sleep in shorts and a tank top.) I’d be excited about new glasses too!

    1. Lol. I had to chuckle hearing about your husband.

  6. I LOVED Bob Goff’s book…and went on to read more by him. His books are very inspiring. I also get SAD, but with my current work load end up out WAY more than I want to be. I hope you have a great month. Cindy-visiting from Share Four Somethings.

    1. I’m going to check into this other books. He hold my attention, makes me chuckle and is so relatable.

  7. Sounds like your year is off to a great start! Nothing like yummy Mexican food to really make it nice. I really like the black beans though:) Here’s to another great month ahead!!

  8. This sounds so cozy and warm, calm and encouraging. And aren’t you glad January’s over anyway??!! Happy February, friend. See you at Book Club!

  9. Paula what an eventful month for such a homebody as you are! I commend you for venturing out and connecting with others! I loved hearing about your month and all the happenings in your life!

    1. Thank you Donna. As much as I’m not fond of going out. I have coffee with a friend a few times a week. And sometimes craft with another friend at her house. And go out to dinner with another friend maybe twice a month.

  10. Paula, fuzzy socks are the best! I love how soft they are and they really do keep our feet warm. 🙂 I really dislike the high winds. It can be scary at times. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed time out with a friend and enjoyed a delicious dinner. And p.s. -Lady Grey tea is a favorite of mine! I drink it with milk and a little bit of honey too.

    1. I hear ya on fuzzy socks. Lol. Ha, I love that we drink our Tea the same.

  11. Being a homebody myself, I understand just wanting to be home, and in, and comfortable, and cozy, and warm 🙂 There is a peace to be found in it all. You enjoyed some wonderful food this month! January is over and we are that much closer to longer days, sunlight, and spring!!!!

    1. Your right there is a peace to it all indeed. Yay spring 🌼
