A Week Away is a Musical Series from Angel Studios that follows a group of teens as they embark on a summer at Camp Aweegaway — a Christian camp filled with adventure, friendships, and unexpected self-discovery. It’s an expressive and resonant story about identity, trust, and the courage to face what’s within.

A Week Away: offers a tender space for those burdened by doubt and pain to explore the possibility of hope and the power of a found family. The story follows a defiant foster teen who is dragged to church camp, determined to resist what he sees as the hollow promises of faith. But rejection gives way to introspection, and the walls he’s built begin to crack. As he discovers he’s not alone in the struggle against grief, anger, and the ache of belonging, he learns that healing can’t be forced— it must be chosen.

A Week Away: is fun and engaging, safe for family viewing, and honors faith-based principles without being a ‘lesson in Christianity.’

My Review

As a long-time lover of musicals, finding the new series “A Week Away” from Angel Studios was a truly refreshing and uplifting experience. In a world full of content that often feels heavy or cynical, this show stands out as a beacon of wholesome, faith-filled television, especially for teenagers.

The series is filled with inspiring and redemptive themes that strike all the right notes. It beautifully highlights the healing power of friends and family, showing how a supportive community can help us through our toughest moments. I also appreciated how the show authentically portrayed some of the very real struggles that both teens and adults face, from feeling lost and alone to navigating personal faith. A core message that really resonated with me is that redemption is a choice. This powerful and hopeful idea is woven throughout the entire story.

The music had me bopping away in my seat—it’s catchy, well-produced, and perfectly suited to the show’s uplifting tone. I was absolutely rooting for these kids from the very start, especially as our main character wrestled with his faith in a way that felt incredibly genuine and relatable. The series made me laugh, evoked strong emotions, and felt incredibly authentic and inspiring. It’s definitely something the whole family can watch and get into.

As an adult, “A Week Away” resonated with me deeply because it reminded me that finding family in friends who love us does not have to be limited to the families we are born into. I once felt lost and longed for a sense of belonging, but Jesus brought my best friend into my life, and she welcomed me into her family with open arms. Years later, she feels like a born sister, and her family loves me as their own, and I love them just as much. The series also resonated with me because it powerfully illustrates what I like to tell others: “Every time I tried to do life on my own, I failed—that’s why I need Jesus.”

**If you’re looking for a show that will lift your spirits and fill you with hope, “A Week Away” is an absolute must-watch.**
