This post is part of the Five Minute Friday blog link-up. Where I join up with a community of writers and bloggers of all ages and stages who gather around a single-word prompt to free-write, unscripted, unedited, for five minutes. This week’s word prompt is {{Harmony}}

GO!

There’s a specific moment every March when the world decides to wake up. It’s not just the temperature climbing; it’s the sudden, glorious racket of life. If you step outside and close your eyes, you’ll hear it: the percussion of a distant woodpecker, the soprano trill of a robin, and the soft bass hum of the wind through budding branches.

In music, Harmony isn’t just a bunch of notes happening at the same time. It’s the intentional blending of different frequencies to create something more beautiful than any single sound could be alone. As we watch the earth transition from the grayscale of winter to the technicolor of spring, we’re seeing God’s favorite symphony in action.

The Divine Conductor

In our spiritual lives, we often mistake “harmony” for “unison.” We think everyone needs to be singing the exact same note, or that our lives need to be perfectly quiet to be “godly.” But look at a spring garden! You have the flashy tulips, the humble moss, and the dramatic cherry blossoms. They don’t compete; they complement.

Colossians 3:14 reminds us:

“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

Think of love as the “key signature” of our lives. When we live in Harmony with God’s spirit, the different parts of our day—the stressful meetings, the messy kitchens, and the quiet prayers—begin to resonate together rather than clashing like cymbals.

Stop! (okay— that was 9 minutes 😉)

Three Ways to Find Your “Spring Harmony”

  1. Tune Your Instrument: You wouldn’t play a violin without checking the strings. Start your morning by “tuning” your heart to God’s word. It sets the pitch for the rest of your day.
  2. Embrace the Counter-Melody: Sometimes life throws us a curveball (a “flat note,” if you will). Instead of panicking, ask how God might be using that unexpected moment to create a richer, deeper song.
  3. Listen to the Choir: We weren’t meant to be soloists! Find your community. There is a special kind of strength found when we lift each other up in prayerful Harmony.

This season, as you see the green returning to the trees, take a deep breath. Let the “Peace of God” be more than a phrase on a throw pillow—let it be the rhythm you walk to. After all, the Creator of the universe is the one conducting your story, and He never misses a beat.
